My own vendor kit part 3

Okay, I am making my own vendor kit (read more about it here) available for sale. As it allows the use of consolidated textures, and people can actually save quite a bit of L$ from upload costs, I am making the vendor kit available for a price. You can find it at my stores. Do let me know if you need any help with it.

Ok.

It sounds a fair price.

Could you tell me more about this feature?
- use consolidated textures

What does it do?

Right now, most vendor kits require you to use separate texture files for each item that you are going to sell.

eg. if you are selling an item called "Object ABC" and another called "Object XYZ", you need to take two pictures, and upload them as separate textures (usually "Object ABC.pic" and "Object XYZ.pic")

With consolidated textures, you can put these pictures into a single texture file, then use offsets to show only the relevant portion of the texture file. For example, you can save four different pictures for four items. If item A's picture is in the top left hand corner, then you configure my vendor kit to show only the top left hand corner for item A. For the offsets and scaling to use, see the original post on the vendor kit.

I bought your vendor kit, but when I rezed it, a script came up demanding more money. It reminded me of a malicious script I once encountered at SL that cleaned out all my Lindens.

Please advise.

It doesn't, or shouldn't demand more money. What it should ask, however, is permission to get money from you. Why is that so? In case someone pays less than the stated amount for your product, the vendor kit will automatically NOT sell him the product and refund him his money instead. It also allows you to give back change if he paid you too much.

Example:
If you are selling a product for L$100. Suppose someone tries to buy it by paying L$50. The L$50 is first credited into your account. But because he paid you less than L$100, your product is not given to him. Instead, L$50 (which he paid to you) will be deducted from your account (since it has already been credited) to give back to him.

And if he paid you L$150 for a L$100 prouct, L$50 will be given back to him as change.

This is how vendor kits that refunds when less than the full price is paid, or gives back change when more is paid, works. If you don't give them permission to get money from you, they cannot give back change, they cannot refund back when people pay you less for your products.

Hey, good price for all the enhancements you've added. One thing I couldn't find in the descriptions though. Is the source code readable as in the original Amethyst's free vendor? I'm always cautious with items that need money permission. Thanks!
